SUSTAINABLE ENERGY CITIZENSHIP
The overall aim of the work package is to engage the inhabitants of the participating cities and inform and educate them about questions regarding energy use and the impact on climate change.

In the work package a number of communication tools were created in order to:

  • Increase the knowledge on the connection between energy use and environmental impact
  • Show how the inhabitants can reduce their environmental impact from energy use

The outcome of the WP is a local climate change campaign with the aim to:

  • Visualize activities already undertaken in order to state good examples
  • Coordinate information of different climate protection activities in order to gain visual   coordination and a high level of recognition
  • Find successful forms of communication which can be applied on future activities

An interactive game on sustainable energy actions

SECURE project partners have developed a game that illustrates how everyday decisions determine our climate impact. The climate change challenge game has been developed to be quick and easy to use but also that a result should be reached quickly to not bore the users.

The game explains how our everyday habits affect the climate, but also that different actions give different results. While changing ones travel habits, or lowering the temperature indoors one can lower their emissions substantively, whereas turning off the computer instead of standby will not give such a big effect immediately. So far the game is available in Swedish and English but it is being translated into Estonian and Russian as well.
