Welcome to the third SECURE Newsletter. We are now half way through the project and the first results of our work are already visible. Emerging activities in Europe regarding combating climate change have been a help in our work to get response from businesses and citizens and disseminate the ideas and results of the SECURE project. The effects of climate change are visible almost every day which makes the citizens more active in their every day life. However, it has been recognised that support from the authorities contributes to a faster implementation of solutions. On June 29th a Green Paper on 'Adapting to climate change in Europe - options for EU action' was issued with the aim to set out how the EU can integrate measures to adapt to climate change into domestic and foreign policy. A joint action is needed to ensure the coordination and efficiency of implemented measures. The European Directive for Energy Performance of Buildings is being widely implemented which sets new targets for demonstration cases to come. More focus is now given to reaching Sustainable Energy Communities taking good results from best practices as guiding principles.
